What features does Readymag lack the most?

Hey! To add padding to a text box, double click the border of the the Text widget and drag it or set your own value

Hey Guys, Tell me please, maybe I missed something but, is it possible to sort photos by tags?
It’s gonna be a super cool feature.

I might be a little late answering this but: a gallery project option! I really just want a masonry gallery with filter options. I think that would work so well for art portfolios!
And masks, or more/editable shapes. I really would love almost a ‘vector shapes’ feature like in Illustrator, but it would also work with masking shapes.
And being able to add more break points, right now my website looks great on laptops, tablets and phones, but a little iffy on big screens or inbetween shapes. Not a super big deal or difference, but would love to be able to change that.

May be I’ve missed something, but I can’t find a feature of Readymag with storybord maker (for instance, like Canva has) with templates enabling me to create quickly and customize the template with my own content. When for example the storyboard template I need to use for making a brand video, that tells the story or explains something.

I would like you to fix the on scroll animation that makes objects shake unsightly. This often manifests itself at moments when movement is animated as an effect. This is especially true for mobile animation.

  • Figma-style autolayout or some other way to allow text fields objects to interact with each other.
  • User designed / defined components - really anything that allows users to get closer to a mini design systems
  • Better support for JS and clearer tutorials on how to target divs (e.g. is readymag only running code blocks once the dom is loaded or do we need to add a listener? CAN we add listeners?
  • Possibility to add IDs to everything for targeting.
  • GSAP support

An Accordion widget.
Possibility to save separate sections in a library - showit has this. So I can create different sections, save them and have then for new projects, can use from different styles, which I created before. Would make work much faster.

I wish I could choose a primary thumbnail for slideshows, especially for the play on hover setting. I wish I could hover over the slideshow, play it through, and when I move my mouse, the original thumb would come back automatically.

I also wish I could add clickable link to a slideshow! Maybe even a link per thumb.

  1. better controls of slideshows. e.g. move arrows off the image, style captions, have counters (not just dots), position image on screen in lightbox and position captions etc.
  2. Tagging/sorting (like on your own blog, for example: https://blog.readymag.com/)
2a. Plus ability to “feed” tagged items to a section of the page
  3. Much better accessibility features
  4. Better translation

Ability to make a goddamn hamburger menu on mobile without having to spend 5+ hours dissecting your videos and moving layers back and forth - just make it easier!

Possibility to add sounds. ie: when you press a button.

I use Readymag quite a lot nowadays, typically on fast-turnaround, demanding designs. Here’s a few things that I’ve noticed would be helpful on at least a few occasions—mostly QoL changes but some bigger ones too:

  • deeper zoom out… please…
  • allow to click and drag RM toolbars so they’re not in the way (can be very difficult to adjust elements in the bottom-right of the page, especially if you’re using the dimensions inputs)
  • native corner radius parameters on all media (video embed and text boxes especially)
  • overlaps with the above, but having corner radius & ‘text box outline’ (not text outline) parameters in the text settings would save me soooo much time
  • increase the gif file size limit to 10mb
  • settable auto-margins/spacing between content in the editor—e.g. if I could say, ‘I want there to always be 50px between the bottom of this element and the top of the next element, so if the layout changes, make that adjustment automatically when i finish editing the page’; IDK if this is feasible—it might be a UX disaster—but it would save me a ton of time
  • allow more than 3 sets of guides, and allow sets to be named
  • allow multiple animations for one widget (e.g. the widget has a hover opacity animation on itself, but also has a separate size hover animation triggered if you hover over a different word)
  • allow more than 3 triggers for an animation
  • capability to set ‘anchor point’/referenced point for scaling & rotating animations (e.g. rotate from top left corner instead of center)
  • capability to change anchor position as an animation (e.g. text starts anchored to screen center, then after a delay/on scroll, it de-anchors from the center of the page and instead anchors to the top of the page, then runs through whatever animation)
  • story editor to allow collaborators to make copy changes without screwing up more involved text formats (e.g. line 1 has 20px above, 8px below; line 2 has 0px above, 8px below; line 3 has 0px above, 20px below—client will screw this up every time
  • (probably not even doable, but…) setting to have text size remain static while the rest of the page scales
  • integrated tools for shape masks/masking, gradients, optical text alignment
  • element color animations
  • variable type parameter slider animations
  • animations on a selection of text within a broader text element
  • built-in multi-password protection/tracking (i.e. being able to generate 100 different passwords for a project, then later be able to see what passwords were used, ideally with time & IP)—this would be great as part of a tiny analytics upgrade, and is crucial for sharing sensitive pitches/scripts; I’ve had to fulfill several projects via other platforms due to this

And this isn’t a feature request, but it’d be helpful to have some editable pages that walk through how scroll animations work to achieve different common effects. Same with menu animations, horizontal scroll on a vertical layout, and a few other common effects—possibly even with an asset library for some of these w/ explanations on how they work? The videos are great for the extreme basics, but for anything aside from the most obvious applications, I often am unable to find any explainer/guidance for how that might be achieved. I did see something like this was added for a few features I already understood.

Make the gallery much more customisable - particularly the ability to add multiple columns (eg. Three images in a row that carousel by one image on each click)

Allow Video Shots to play without having to apply an interaction.
Example - I have my full-page video shot set to “hover” and I want it to loop endlessly, but if I hover over a menu item on top of it, it will pause.

A “distribute evenly” button - particularly useful when arranging grids of odd-sized objects.

In-built blending options that also work with mobile and animations (Particularly “Difference”).

Please fix the bottom of the page adjuster - it’s so janky and requires constant attention.

Having used readymag for a few months now, I think these upgrades would be quite small in the grand scheme of things, but make a huge difference.

customer support, not sending users to email and then in the email to send then back to the forum.

Oof. Does it not? I’ve been considering using R/m for a client portfolio project but this along with no project filtering or sorting are dealbreakers. I love how flexible R/m is but there are some basics missing.

  1. An easy way to copy the ID of a widget without opening the browser inspector.
  2. Better still, custom CSS and JavaScript in widget options.
  3. Option to wrap text around other widgets.
