Mobile layout keeps affecting desktop — is this expected behavior in Readymag?

I’m pretty stuck and hoping someone can clarify if this is expected behavior or if I’m missing something.

I’m building a small business site in Readymag and struggling with mobile optimization. Every time I adjust spacing, sizing, or alignment on mobile, it ends up affecting the desktop layout in ways I can’t fully control.

I understand that Readymag uses shared elements across breakpoints, but I’m confused about what should be layout-specific vs global. I don’t see a way to lock the desktop layout, and I’m wondering:

  • Is there any way to prevent mobile edits from shifting desktop layouts?

  • Are there best practices for optimizing mobile without constantly breaking desktop?

  • Or is this simply a limitation of Readymag’s layout system across all plans?

I’ve tried resizing, repositioning, and hiding elements per layout, but text spacing and structure still feel unpredictable. I just want to understand whether this is something that can be improved with workflow — or if it’s a known limitation I need to design around.

Any clarification or tips would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks so much!
